BREAKING NEWS: Governor Hogan Announces Additional COVID-19 Restrictions

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan held a press conference on Tuesday, announcing a slew of additional measures intended to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Governor announced hospital and nursing home visitation will be discontinued or limited with the acceptation of compassionate care visits.

Health officials are also recommending the cancellation of elective surgeries at hospitals, especially those that would require ventilators or hospital beds for recovery.

Governor Hogan also announced patient transfers will be permitted to transport patients from at-capacity hospitals to those with less capacity.

The Governor also announced effective Friday at 5PM, dine-in service at bars, restaurants and other establishments must close at 10PM.

Also effective on Friday at 5PM, the Governor announced retail establishments will revert to 50 percent capacity. This includes retailers, organizations, fitness centers and religious institutions.

Fans will no longer be permitted at professional or college sporting stadiums and venues.

At his press conference, the Governor said “In addition to masks, avoiding crowds, and social distancing, one of the most important things you can do to protect your friends and family is to get tested for COVID-19.”
