The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says a Wednesday afternoon house fire in Salisbury caused around $130,000 in damages.
The blaze broke out shortly before 4 p.m. at the residence located in the 800 block of Price Road in Salisbury. Officials say the fire started in a bedroom where a child was playing with a lighter.
It took around 14 firefighters less than 30 minutes to get the fire under control. No one was injured but the structure received $100,000 in damages and $30,000 in damages to the home’s contents.
As a result of the fire, the family was displaced and is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
