The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says a Friday night kitchen fire caused serious damage to a home in Fruitland.
The blaze broke out around 8:30 p.m. at the home in the 200 block of Poplar Street in Fruitland. Officials say a smoke alarm or sprinklers were not present in the home. The two residents of the one story wooden frame, single family home were not injured, nor were the 20 firefighters who responded.
The blaze was reported in the kitchen, but the official cause remains under investigation. It caused $35,000 in damages to the structure and $10,000 in damages to it’s contents.
