In a Wednesday morning press conference, Maryland’s State Superintendent of Public Schools Dr. Karen Salmon announced all schools in the state will remain closed for the remainder of the school year.
Dr. Salmon says that students will not return to classes for four more weeks, until April 24th. Students and teachers will continue instruction via online courses, which are still being discussed among education leaders in the state.
Schools were initially closed for the weeks of March 16 and 23. The announcement was made during a press conference with Governor Larry Hogan.
Dr. Salmon stressed that the return date may change.
