Delaware State Police will participate in Operation Safe Driver Week during the week of July 12, in efforts to prevent speeding and other violations.
The week long initiative will target speeding and other unsafe driving behaviors by commercial drivers and regular motorists.
Delaware State Police cite National Highway Traffic Safety Administration statistics that find drivers’ actions contribute to 94 percent of all traffic related crashes.
Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance President Sgt. John Samis with the Delaware State Police says “It’s essential that this enforcement initiative, which focuses on identifying and deterring unsafe driving behaviors, such as speeding, go on as scheduled.” He continued “As passenger vehicle drivers are limiting their travel to necessary trips and many commercial motor vehicle drivers are busy transporting vital goods to stores, it’s more important than ever to monitor our roadways for safe transport.”
