Wicomico County Man Charged with Cocaine Distribution

Donald Tate, Jr. of Willards, MD

Salisbury, Md. (DELMARVA NEWS NOW) — A Wicomico County Jury has found Donald Tate, Jr. of Willards guilty on numerous counts related to the distribution of cocaine.

Prosecutors say in November 2017, Tate delivered six ounces of cocaine in exchange for 7,200 dollars in order to finance a murder for hire plot that resulted in the shooting on two people in Accomack County on October 31, 2017. Wicomico County State’s Attorney Jamie Dykes was responsible for trying the case. She thanked Corporal Tyler Bennet and other members of the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, Eastern Shore Drug Task Force, Accomack County Sheriff’s Office, Northampton County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Police following the verdict.

Senior Judge Daniel Long postponed Tate’s sentencing pending the completion of a pre-sentence investigation. Sentencing is now scheduled for September 17.
